World Of Harry Partch (180 gram pressing)
LP (Item 502807) Columbia, 1969 — Condition: New Copy
Visionary stuff from Harry Partch – the kind of record that's a great introduction to his music – and a relic from an era when mindbending, rule breaking sound art could come out on a label like Columbia! There's lots of Partch's weird invented instruments – like chromelodeon, diamond marimba, mazda marimba, cloud-chamber bowls, gourd tree, and the crazy "spoils of war – but it's engrossing, and confluently rhythmic material that really pulls you in. Conducted by Danlee Mitchell under the supervision of Partch. The titles are long, and include "Castor & Pollux", "Daphne Of the Dunes", and "Barstow", which is "eight hitchiker inscriptions from a railway railing at Barstow, CA". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | ||||||
