Some of our favorite work ever from Tyrone Davis – a massive compilation of his post-Dakar work for Columbia Records! Although Davis first rose to fame on the earlier label, we love his work from this second stretch even more – as Tyrone really changed up his game a lot, and moved past the familiar modes of his previous hits – into richly sophisticated territory with a wonderfully warm and mellow vibe! There's a depth to these tracks that's hard to describe accurately – and most of the material has been crucially overlooked for years, which is why the compilation's such a treasure. Tyrone's vocals are still as deeply soulful as before, but they really hit a new level of maturity too – a sound that's smooth, slinky, and completely sublime!
