LP (Item 431328) ABC, Late 50s — Condition: Used

A hard-wailing stomper from organist Jon Thomas – and a record that also has him singing along with the Hammond! The set's one of the roughest-edged records to come from ABC in the 50s – and has a groove that would be more at home on King Records than any place else – an R&B-drenched blend of soaring organ lines, scattershot percussion, and tightly vamping rhythms – all very much in a Bill Dogget mode, but often even better! Half the album's instrumental, and the other half has Thomas shouting along in a bluesy sort of mode – and Otis Finch lays down more than a few great tenor lines on the album. Titles include the hit "Heartbreak", plus "Hey Hey Baby", "Doo Fopa Doo", "Teasin", "Kick It", "Buffalo Blues", "Lil Pooch", and "I Will". (Black label stereo pressing with deep groove. Cover has some splitting on the top and bottom seams, with some light stains on the back.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
