Bassy funk from Shotgun – on their third album at this point, and still very much in the tight groove that gave them their start! The format's nothing fancy, but one of the better mainstream takes on funk at the time – a groove that's got the complicated rhythm patterns that lets the group show off their chops – yet which also hits the straight ahead grooving style done by Cameo and Confunkshun. Titles are all longish, and include "Skate", "Midnight Breakdown", "Don't You Wanna Make Love", "Burnin Passion", "Special Lady", and "Stone Women". (Cover has some ring & edge wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

MCA, 1978. Sealed
An excellent album of smooth soul tracks, and maybe Van's best record of the 70s! The record shows Van sitting at the piano in an intimate setting – ala Barry White – and it's got a similar Love Unlimited Orchestra approach, with much large backing behind Van's voice, and a very full ... MCA, 1979. Near Mint-
This nice soulful sleeper was not that recognized in the 70s, but in the 90s, it's become a huge favorite in the Chicago's steppers scene, thanks to the excellent two-step groover "Love's Gonna Last". It's a great cut, with sweet soulful vocals, and a totally catchy midtempo groove ... LP, Vinyl record album

Stax, 1973. Near Mint-
A crowning achievement for Rufus Thomas – a set that bubbles over with funky intensity, and one of the last great albums he ever recorded for Stax! The funky Rufus mode is still in full full swing here – with loads of tunes that have the word "funky" in the title – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Motown, 1974. Very Good
Despite what you think of Edwin Starr otherwise, he did a great job on this soundtrack, which is every bit as funky as any of Willie Hutch's work for other Motown scores! Larry Mizell and Dennis Coffey help out on the instrumentation – so you know the album's as funky as can be – and ... LP, Vinyl record album
