BT Express are speeding it up a bit from the first album – hitting more of a disco vein, as would be their due, since they were one of the key groups in inventing the genre! The core ensemble funk sound is still firmly in place, with loads of great horns arranged by the enigmatic Carlos Ward, a jazzy talent who always brought a nice edge to the group's albums. Includes the tasty funk cut "Devil's Workshop", which has a similar feel to "Express" – plus the massive "Peace Pipe", a very catchy number that's always been a favorite in Chicago. Also includes "Discotizer", "Give It What You Got", "Whatcha Think About That?", and "Close To You". (Cover has a cutout hole.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Doctor Boogie
Roadshow, 1979. Very Good
A bit disco, a bit funk – but with lots of influences of the early 70s East Coast hit soul sound. The record makes a clear attempt to hit the dancefloor – but it sounds a lot more like some of the Roadshow or Buddah albums from 1974 and 1975 than it does a late 70s after-the-fact sort ... Curtom, 1974. Very Good Gatefold
A great little album by The Impressions – possibly their best of the 70s! Tamla/Motown, 1977. Very Good
Smooth mellow grooves, in the style that Eddie pioneered, and which he still did better than most. The album's a great batch of tracks with production by Leonard Caston, who also produced some of Eddie's earlier works, and the set's pretty darn great all the way through. With the cuts "Someth ... World Pacific, 1969. Sealed Gatefold
Groove Holmes and Gerald Wilson – a wonderful combination on this late 60s session – in a style that's everything great about mainstream LA jazz at the time! Wilson really has a way with the charts on the session – and although the group is large, they've got a lean, clean sound ... LP, Vinyl record album
