The third album from the legendary Os Mutantes – part of the essential trio of sides released during the Tropicalia years! The record's got a sound that's tighter and a bit more straightforward than their previous efforts – stricter song formats, and styles that lean heavily on rockish guitars and organ. But as the odd cover images on the front and back will attest, the band is still in a very creatively arty mode here – still working strongly with arranger Rogerio Duprat, in a wash of sounds and moods that fold contemporary music back upon itself with plenty of odd twists, turns, and surprises! Titles include "Desculpe Babe", "Oh Mulher Infiel", "Quem Tem Medo De Brincar De Amor", "Hey Boy", "Haleluia", "Ave, Lucifer", and "Meu Refrigerador Nao Funciona".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Polydor, 1972. New Copy (reissue)
One of the hardest rocking albums ever cut by Os Mutantes – a record that's got a slightly ironic take on rock and roll styles of the time – still performed with the sense of drama and humor that always made the band so great! Rita Lee and Arnaldo Baptista are still in the group at ... LP, Vinyl record album
Polydor, 1971. New Copy (reissue)
Quite possibly the last truly sublime album ever recorded by Os Mutantes – a set that's a bit more rock-oriented then their first few, but still pretty revolutionary overall! The group have expanded to a quintet at this point, but haven't yet falling into the guitar-heavy groove of later ... LP, Vinyl record album
Obras
Whatmusic (UK), New Copy Gatefold (reissue)
A deeply jazzy album from Brazil – one of the few rare records cut by the combo of Edison Machado, one of Brazil's greatest drummers of the 60s! The set has a sound that's quite different from Machado's earlier work – a fusion of post-bossa and post-Coltrane styles that comes off with ... LP, Vinyl record album
Orlann Divo
Musidisc/Whatmusic (UK), 1963. New Copy (reissue)
Warm bossa grooves – and the second album by Orlandivo, billed here on the cover as Orlann Divo! The album's a great batch of instrumentals – jazzy, with a mix of percussion, bass, and organ that's quite different from the usual bossa album of its type – much more expansive, and ... Dom Um Romao
Muse, 1973. New Copy (reissue)
An unbelievably fantastic album, and perhaps the greatest one that Dom Um Romao ever did! We'd place this record next to the best ... LP, Vinyl record album
Louvacao
Philips/Soul Jazz (UK), 1967. New Copy
A brilliant early moment for the young Gilberto Gil – a set recorded right before his jump into the Tropicalia movement, but with a sound that's already pretty darn unique! The style here has Gilberto singing upfront and playing acoustic guitar – in a mode that's certainly rooted in ... LP, Vinyl record album
Philips/Polysom (Brazil), 1971. New Copy (reissue)
A seminal set from Jorge Ben – one that mixes samba soul with more baroque arrangements from the legendary Arthur Verocai! The record's got a different feel than some of Jorge's other work – almost a wider vision of music that ties his usual funky style to some of the more ambitious ... LP, Vinyl record album
Samba Esquema Novo
Philips/Polysom (Brazil), 1963. New Copy (reissue)
A stunning batch of early tracks from one of Brazil's greatest artists! The album includes loads of Jorge's choppy bossa-styled tracks, all driven by his tight acoustic guitar playing, and haunted by his deeply soulful voice! The album's a masterpiece that has Jorge breaking out in a hip new ... LP, Vinyl record album
Philips/Polysom (Brazil), 1972. New Copy (reissue)
An incredible album by one of our favorite Brazilian artists! This gem from 1972 is an album that we'd rank right up there with work by Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, or Lo Borges from the same time – with an underground singer/songwriter style, performed in a manner that mixes rock and jazz ... Some of the most brilliantly baroque work ever recorded by Marcos Valle – an obscure 1970 album that collects together tunes from a few of his odd soundtrack experiments of the late 60s, plus a few others that are in a very similar vein! Marcos is really going over the top here – ... LP, Vinyl record album
