First Time Around
LP (Item 401250) Brunswick, 1974 — Condition: New Copy
A lost set of female soul tracks – recorded in the waning years of the Brunswick label, when they were really experimenting with some great obscure groups, most of whom got lost in the tax shuffles of the label's demise! Odyssey 5 hail from North Carolina, and they've got an ensemble female vocal style that's a bit like Voices Of East Harlem, but with rootsier southern soul touches – and a righteous quality that we totally love!. Alonzo Tucker produced the album with a real full-on sound – and although some cuts have a standout female lead, most tunes feature the group trading vocals pretty strongly together. Titles include "Peace Of Mind", "Got To Be An Answer", "What's It Gonna Be", "Master Plan", "Golden Dreams", "My Best Friend", "More Ways Than One", and "Happiness Is Being With You". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
