Beautiful music from Carmen Lundy – her first album ever, and originally only issued in Japan! Right from the start, Lundy is one of the freshest, freest, most soulful jazz singers you'll ever hear – working here with a tight acoustic group that's in an instantly classic mode – quite different than the styles most other jazz singers were using in the mid 80s – a time when so many others were faltering, while Carmen was strong at the start! Musicians on the set are a very elite group – Ricky Ford on tenor, Rodney Jones on guitar, Kenny Kirkland on piano, and Curtis Lundy on bass – and songs are mostly familiar numbers, but opened up by Lundy with that undeniable talent she has for really transforming a tune.
