A crackling live set from Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers! The recording is one of a few that Blakey made at Birdland – and it may well be the best, as it features his killer 1960 lineup with Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, and Bobby Timmons all in the group. Tracks are longer than the group's studio sides – with an incredible mix of fire and lyricism, soul and energy, showing the group at their best in a setting like this! This second volume includes the tracks "Night Watch", "The Summit", "High Modes", and "The Things I Love". (Sealed stereo copy, which was in a collection of New York Blue Note records. No Liberty on cover – we're assuming New York.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Blue Note, 1957. Very Good+
A very unique album from Hank Mobley – one that has him working alongside Milt Jackson, in an unusual format that mixes the soulful Mobley tenor with some well-crafted work on vibes! The "all star" title is certainly appropriate here – as Mobley and Jackson are joined in a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Trip, 1966. Sealed
Trip issue of material from Randy Weston's under-issued years of the mid 60s – just 3 long tracks that are all totally great! Randy's playing with a group that's similar in spirit to that used on the classic African Cookbook – Ray Copeland on trumpet, Frank Haynes on tenor, Bill Wood ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kudu, 1977. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
A totally great Grover Washington record – and with 25 years behind us, we really now realize how fantastic all the early Kudu sessions really were! The record was recorded live at the Bijou, and is spread out over 2 long LPs, with lots of room for tasty open-ended solos by Grover and the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Roulette, Early 60s. Very Good+
A great little LP – even if it is a discographer's nightmare! The record was most likely recorded originally under Machito's name, and only featured Mann as a soloist – but it's not the album Kenya, so we're not sure which one it is, although it does look like a repackaging job ...
