The incendiary full length by The Avengers – their almighty, unjustly overlooked self-titled set (aka the Pink Album)! This is one of our absolute favorite Bay Area punk albums of any era – recorded in '77 and '78, but it went unreleased until 1983. We have no doubt that if this thing came out properly in '78 and got any kind of distribution, The Avengers could have built a massive legend – similar to the way X busted out of LA – and conquered punk fans the world over. Righteous, rage-filled, fearless and catchy – with one of great punk frontwomen in Penelope Houston. Do not dismiss this as just another 70s punk album. It's a masterpiece! Includes "We Are The One", "Car Crash", "No Martyr", "Desperation", "The Amerikan In Me", "Second To None", "Corpus Christi", "Uh-Oh" and more. 14 on all. The black and white cover may look a bit punk, but the Flaming Groovies continue their great move into jangle pop – working here again with producer Dave Edmunds, who really seems to find the right direction for this sound! The music is almost a pastiche of older Brit modes from the mid 60s ... LP, Vinyl record album

Amazing stuff – the first album by Fred Neil, one of the 60s' most underrated singer/songwriters! The album is really one of the best places to start with Fred's work – as it's got a rough folksy quality that's really wonderful, and very much in the spirit of Tim Hardin, with whom we'd ... Pure and lovely sounds from the early days of Durutti Column – music from a time when guitarist Vini Reilly's conception was quite fresh, and deeply personal – so much so, his music really stood out amidst the darker sounds of his post-punk generation! A wonderful departure for Kevin Ayers – an album that's a lot lighter and more whimsical than his original fame with Soft Machine! An incredible album – one of the greatest rock albums of the 60s, and a record we'd place right up there on the shelf next to Pet Sounds or Forever Changes! A sweet psychedelic set, but one with very mysterious origins – originally recorded as a sound library session, by a group that was really the better-known Nuova Idea! Lou Reed's fantastic early solo LP – melding the aloof, plaintive vocal performance style he perfected with the Velvets and unbelievable sharp songwriting with the vamped up, fuzzed out guitars of Mick Ronson, some symphonic touches, and the guiding spirit of Ziggy Stardust era Bowie.
