Guitar Method
CD (Item 626553) Columbia (Japan), 1972 — Condition: New Copy
Electric guitar and funky big band – a sweet early 70s session from Kiyoshi Sugimoto, and one that mixes trippy touches with a straight ahead groove! Sugimoto's guitar is mighty nice – definitely picking up influences from the psych generation – and the backings have a mod blend of pop elements and hipper touches too – almost the sort of vibe you'd get from the early years of CTI, when they were doing some great projects with A&M Records! And in fact, there might be a good comparison here to the West Montgomery and George Benson sides for that label – especially the latter – as you'll hear on titles that include "Superstar", "The Story In Your Eyes", "Everybody's Everything", "Questions 67 & 68", "Madman Across The Water", and "Black Dog". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
