Jazz In Paris – Jazz Long Playing
CD (Item 39004) Universal (France), 1964 — Condition: New Copy
Think what you want about Jean-Luc Ponty – this early session is pretty darn hip! Ponty's not nearly as overblown as he is on other records – and he falls nicely into both a tradition of French modernism and hip European jazz violinists, recording here in the company of other French players like Michel Portal on flute, Eddy Louiss on organ, Daniel Humair on drums, and Guy Pedersen on bass – a very groovy lineup that's perfect for the gliding, soaring sound of Ponty's instrument! The tracks are a mixture of bop standards and tunes by French jazzers like Jef Gilson, Martial Solal, and Raymond Fol – and titles include "Une Nuit Au Violin", "Postlude In C", "Night In Tunisia", "Au Privave", and "Spanish Castles". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
