Francophonic 2 – Africa's Greatest – A Retrospective 1980 to 1989

CD (Item 497363) Sterns (UK), 1980s — Condition: New Copy

Amazing music from the last decade of Francois Luambo Makiadi – aka Franco – the kind of music that made him one of Africa's greatest musical exports of the time! Although Franco and his TPOK Jazz group were riding high during these years, they still were really breaking great new ground with their music – sounds that are rich in spirit, and incredibly seductive throughout – even to audiences not immediately attuned to their language or message. Franco's guitar lines are beautifully understated, but a key part of the recordings – bright, but with an undercurrent of sadness – and the lavish package features a 48 page, full color booklet with notes in French and English, telling the full story of these later years. Titles include "Nostalgie", "Princesse Kikou", "Bina Na Nagai Na Respect", "Sandoka", "Missile", "Suite Lettre No 1", "Sadou", "Impa Kisangameni", and "Mario".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
