Probably the funkiest record ever by this landmark soul combo! The Rimshots are one of these groups that you always find their later work, but in their early days they were an absolutely killer combo – with a hard funky groove that virtually defined the funky 45 sound. In fact, their singles were the stuff that funky collectors were going for way back in the day – when nobody collected funky 45s – and this album may well be the only full-length piece of wax that comes close to matching the strength of those singles. 9 tracks in all: "Neighbor! Get Your Own", "Born Funky", "Soultrain (parts 1 & 2)", "Coastin & Crashin (parts 1 & 2)", "In Cold Blood", "Love, True Love! (Please Pass My Way)" and "A Hot Day In Harlem".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A gem of a full-length set from Executive Suite – a Philly quartet who are probably best known for their singles in the 70s, but who really find a great way to open up here in the course of an expanded album! Some of the tracks are nice and long – done in a two-part style that really ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rudy Ray Moore's second album, and almost hipper than the first – thanks to some key musical backings from The Fillmore St Soul Rebellion! Rare early work from Etta James – material cut during the late 50s for the west coast Modern Records label, most of it a lot harder-hitting than Etta's more famous music for Chess in the 60s! Given the raw power of Etta James at Chess, that's saying a heck of a lot – and you'll ... LP, Vinyl record album

Peoples Potential, 1980s/Early 90s. New Copy
Unreleased gems from Uku Kuut – most of them cut during the 80s and early 90s – with a great mix of drum machine rhythms and spare keyboard grooves! Fantasy/BGP (UK), 1978. New Copy (reissue)
A great album of funky dancefloor tunes! Originally issued in 1978, and clearly for the New York dancefloor crowd – the record takes the earlier work of funk group The Blackbyrds, and remixes the tracks slightly to pump up the groove a bit for the dancers. While the approach might not sound ... LP, Vinyl record album

The funkiest album that Syl Johnson ever recorded – filled with short, tight cuts that play more like a stack of funky 45s than the standard soul album of the time!
