The soul-based side of CTI Records – some killer vocal cuts from the 70s, and a great reminder that the label didn't always just concentrate on funky jazz! Most of the tracks here are from records with singers in the lead, but a few are by jazz artists who featured a vocalist guesting on a track or two, too – which makes for a nice range of approaches in the record – some shorter, tighter soul cuts – mixed with other jazzier numbers that still pack plenty of punch in the soul department!
