One of Mtume's sweet mellow soul records for Epic from the early 80's. Like Norman Connors, another soul jazz drummer who decided to go for a smooth soul approach, Mtume has a nice laidback feel on here, with good jazzy production backing up a number of vocal tracks aimed at the modern soul crowd. Hubert Eaves plays some nice mellow keyboards, and Tawatha joins Mtume on vocals. Cuts include "We're Gonna Make It This Time", "So You Wanna Be A Star", "Anticipatin", "Everything Good To Me", and "You Can't Wait For Love". (Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has some edge wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Off The Wall
Epic, 1979. Good+ Gatefold
Michael, if only you'd stayed at this level! This 1979 solo album by Michael is a killer batch of soul grooves – one of his best moments ever, and a crowning cap to a stellar 70s run – both as a younger solo act, and with the whole Jackson family! Thriller
Epic, 1982. Very Good- Gatefold
Arguably the last true moment of genius in Michael Jackson's career – a record that sold a bazillion copies around the world – and for plenty good reason! Destiny
Epic, 1978. Very Good+ Gatefold
A heavy groove and a heady title that points the way towards Michael Jackson's soon-to-be legendary solo career – all served up in a batch of tracks that resonate nicely with the Off The Wall groove! The sound here really isn't disco or club, but it's a nicely upbeat groove that shows The ... LP, Vinyl record album

Stand!
Epic, 1968. Good+ Gatefold
Hard to find a stronger early album by Sly – as this one has him still funking hard, but also getting his soul bag together a bit more, hitting some really righteous vibes that mix together politics and partying in an incredibly seductive way. The album's filled with anthemic numbers like ... LP, Vinyl record album

Laura Lee
Hot Wax, 1972. Very Good+
A standout set from the great Laura Lee – a deep soul singer with power to rival the greatness of Aretha Franklin, but one who's also got a funkier punch to her music too! The album's a great blend of late 60s female southern and tight 70s bad sister funk – a style that's a bit like ... LP, Vinyl record album
