LP (Item 485442) Deja Vu (Italy), 2009 — Condition: New Copy

Beautiful work from an Italian singer – a vocalist who works here in English throughout, with a breezy vibe that's like some of our favorite work of the 70s! The set's a Dejavu co-production, and as such, has a really classic sound – deeply soulful instrumentation from a core combo, topped with vocals from Stefania that are really great – often arranged with the sort of hip rhythms and unusual inflections you'd expect to hear on older records from singers like Lorez Alexandria and Dee Dee Bridgewater, both of whom are clear inspirations for the music here! Many tunes have a hard-grooving modal rhythm – making the album almost a club jazz set – and instrumentation includes piano from Claudio Filippini, trombone from Roberto Rossi, and trumpet from Guido Pistocchi, who co-produced the album with Paolo Scotti. Titles include a killer version of "Send In The Clowns", done in the classic Lorez groove – plus "Jubilee", "A Time For Love", "The One Who Needs You", "Sambandrea", and "Speak Low". (Super-heavy vinyl pressing – in a wonderful cover, and beautifully done!)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
