CD (Item 601303) About Time, 1993 — Condition: New Copy

The group's a sextet, but the real energy of the set comes from the twin-string interplay between the guitar of Joe Morris and electric bass of Nate McBride – with both players at their young, edgey best! There's a pretty freewheeling approach going on with most of the music – never that free, given that there's a rhythmic structure to most tunes – but still kind of unbridled, and cascading forward with a great degree of energy – almost as of Morris can't contain the ideas he's trying to get down in the space of the recording – and we mean that in a good way! Other players include Jim Hobbs on alto, Steve Norton on baritone, and Curt Newton and James Dupree on drums – each getting one channel of the recording – and serving up plenty of energy themselves. Titles include "Rumble Strip", "Slipshod", "Instinct", "Wedoe", "Cellular", and "Revolve".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
