A legendary lost album from Brazilian songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Lula Cortes and Ze Ramalho – recorded in Brazil in the mid 70s – blending avant psychedelia, rugged acoustic rhythms, and an enormous free spirit with delicate melodic touches and lilting jazzy elements! As is the case with the work of the best, most adventurous Brazilian artists of the time, it's a difficult sound to describe. It's a very atmospheric blend – sung and chanted vocals are no more or less important than any of the other elements – which include classical acoustic and fuzzy electric guitar, piano, organ, flute, sax and a range of percussion. It's free and psychedelic, but just reigned in enough to keep it tense and exciting. Pure greatness – hopefully bound to achieve some long overdue recognition! Tracks include "Trilha De Sume", "Culto A Terra", "Bailado Das Muscarias", "Nao Existe Molhado Igua; Ao Pranto", "Raga Dos Raios", "Nas Paredes Da Pedra Encantada", "Regato Da Montanha", Trilha De Sume" and more! New special edition 2 x LP pressing, finished to match the original specifications, now including the 8 page booklet.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A gem of a record from the same Pernambuco early 70s scene that gave us Lula Cortes, Ze Ramalho, Geraldo Azevedo, and Alceu Valenca! This obscure little set has lots of the earthier tones that showed up in work by the above artists – a style that mixes folksy touches with bits of psychedelia ... LP, Vinyl record album

Astrud Gilberto Now
Perception, 1972. New Copy (reissue)
Killer work by Astrud Gilberto – very different than her Verve sides of the 60s! The album was produced by Astrud, arranged by Deodato – and has that wonderful warm full jazz feel of her classic album on CTI, but also a bit more like some of the funky work of Jorge Ben at the time ... Philips/Soul Jazz (UK), 1967. New Copy
A brilliant early moment for the young Gilberto Gil – a set recorded right before his jump into the Tropicalia movement, but with a sound that's already pretty darn unique! The style here has Gilberto singing upfront and playing acoustic guitar – in a mode that's certainly rooted in ... LP, Vinyl record album

Really great work from Ned Doheny – an overlooked talent on the LA scene of the 70s – one who had the tightest, smoothest touches of the best of the AOR generation – but a surprising undercurrent of soul as well! Condello is Michael Condello – a pretty heady talent from the 60s who should have been huge, given the overall sound of this psych nugget from the time! Condello has this very sinister sort of vibe – folksy at the core, but electrified in really fuzzy, freaky ways – as if he ... LP, Vinyl record album
