Nice one! Grant Green's albums from this time are all great – but this is the amazing live album with the version of "Down Here On the Ground" that was sampled by Tribe Called Quest! There's lots of other nice moments on the record, too, like very hard funky covers of "Let The Music Take Your Mind" and "Sookie, Sookie". The group is excellent – and features Ronnie Foster and Earl Creque on organ, William Bivens on vibes, and Claude Bartee on tenor – all grooving hard in a modal funky mode that makes this album one of Grant Green's best from the time! Chisa, 1970. Near Mint- Gatefold
Wickedly funky work from the Jazz Crusaders – a pivotal set that has them electrifying their groove a bit more from the 60s, yet still not hitting the smother sound of later years! The core soul jazz mode of the group's start is still nicely in place – hard-hitting grooves from Wayne ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bitches Brew
Columbia, 1969. Very Good 2 LP Gatefold
One of the few cases in jazz where an oft-played classic still resonates with power! The record itself is a key cap to Miles Davis' already-groundbreaking years of the 60s – a bold step forward, not just for his nascent electric sound, but also for jazz in general – and the benchmark ...
