Grant Green — Alive! (plus bonus tracks) ... CD

Nice one! Grant Green's albums from this time are all great – but this is the amazing live album with the version of "Down Here On the Ground" that was sampled by Tribe Called Quest! There's lots of other nice moments on the record, too, like very hard funky covers of "Let The Music Take Your Mind" and "Sookie, Sookie". The group is excellent – and features Ronnie Foster and Earl Creque on organ, William Bivens on vibes, and Claude Bartee on tenor – all grooving hard in a modal funky mode that makes this album one of Grant Green's best from the time! (Original Liberty pressing. Cover has a cutout hole in one corner, and some light wear in another.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Fantasy, 1974. Near Mint-

Verve, 1963. Very Good+ Gatefold

His sound is impeccable, and he soars ahead of the rest of the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Verve, 1968. Near Mint-
A very groovy album that has Milt playing jazzy vibes with a tight string quartet that does more than just back him up – they sort of solo and provide some rhythm, too, and give the whole album a very very cool sound. The rest of the lineup's great, too, because James Moody is all over the ... LP, Vinyl record album
