In Italy – Volume 2
CD (Item 479863) Soul Note (Italy), 1980 — Condition: New Copy
Groundbreaking material from Bill Dixon – some of his best-remembered recordings of the later years, and a seminal set that showed that his talents were every bit as sharp as they were when he first emerged on the scene in the 60s! The work here has a very compositional feel – one that's still never too serious, and which allows more than enough space for jazz-based expression – especially on the trumpet and piano lines that step out with a singular feel amidst some of the darker tones of the ensemble. Players include Dixon on trumpet and piano, Arthur Brooks and Stephen Haynes on trumpet, Stephen Horenstein on tenor and baritone sax, Alan Silva on bass, and Freddie Waits on drums. Titles include "Sketch/Firenze", "Summer Song/Two/Evening", "Summer Song/Three/Aurorea – Daybreak", "Summer Song/Three/Aurorea – Dusk" and "Dance Piece – Places, For Jack & Barbara, Autumn Sequences From A Paris Diary". (Official pressing of the CD, with full artwork – not the CDr pressing found at other online retailers.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
