Island sounds, courtesy of Wout Steenhuis & The Kontikis – a European combo, but one who really get the right sound for a record like this! The music's a bit late in the exotica mode, but that's possibly what makes it so nice – in that there's kind of a revisionist look at the style, particularly the Hawaiian variant – maybe not as staid here now that the state found its place with 48 on the mainland – which leaves Wout free to bring in lots of nice 60s groovy touches!
