LP, Vinyl record album

Later work by Jack, but an album recorded with a fair amount of care, and one that captures his classic vocals and trombone in just the right setting. The group's a sextet – with Don Goldie on trumpet, Don Ewell on piano, and Barrett Deems on drums. Shay Torrent plays organ on the track "Love Lies", and other tunes include "It's All In Your Mind", "Don't Tell A Man About His Woman", "Peaceful Valley", and "Afternoon In August". (Deep groove pressing. Cover has some wear, partially top and bottom seams, and a name in marker and a couple of small edge rips on the back. Label has a bit of sticker residue.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Getz Au Go Go
Verve, Mid 60s. Very Good Gatefold
A beautiful dreamy album that's quite different from the classic Getz/Gilberto collaboration – but which also shares much of that set's lyrical beauty! This album was recorded live, in 1964, when Stan Getz was playing with his quartet that included Gary Burton on vibes – an incredible ... LP, Vinyl record album

Verve, 1964. Very Good+ Gatefold
Although Gil Evans is probably best remembered for his work behind Miles Davis, the albums he cut on his own are actually even more interesting, and feature a far-reaching conception of modern jazz, executed by Evans, and some of the top players of his day. This great album from 1964 features a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Side By Side
Verve, 1959. Very Good-
A great little session that builds on the strength of Johnny Hodges' small group 50s sessions for Verve – and which lets Duke Ellington in on some of the action! The format is nicely stripped-down throughout – featuring Hodges in sextet and septet formation with players that include ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hip Vibrations
Verve, Late 60s. Near Mint-
Groovy, YEAH! A very cool set of instrumental tracks, played by Cal on vibes, with sweet 60s pop jazz arrangements by Benny Golson. This is the kind of hip mix of styles that Verve did so well in the late 60s – and it's got a whirlwind of influences (Latin, bossa, soul jazz), all blending ... LP, Vinyl record album

Trip, 1966. Near Mint-
Trip issue of material from Randy Weston's under-issued years of the mid 60s – just 3 long tracks that are all totally great! Randy's playing with a group that's similar in spirit to that used on the classic African Cookbook – Ray Copeland on trumpet, Frank Haynes on tenor, Bill Wood ... LP, Vinyl record album

RCA, 1951. Good+
Excellent cool jazz work from the postwar explosion on the Swedish jazz scene! Altoist Domnerus plays nicely swinging material with differing groups of Swedish players that include Lars Gullin, Gunnar Svensson, Rolf Ericson, and others. Live At The Bijou
Kudu, 1977. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
A totally great Grover Washington record – and with 25 years behind us, we really now realize how fantastic all the early Kudu sessions really were! The record was recorded live at the Bijou, and is spread out over 2 long LPs, with lots of room for tasty open-ended solos by Grover and the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Roulette, Early 60s. Very Good+
A great little LP – even if it is a discographer's nightmare! The record was most likely recorded originally under Machito's name, and only featured Mann as a soloist – but it's not the album Kenya, so we're not sure which one it is, although it does look like a repackaging job ...
