CD (Item 609293) Liberty (Japan), Early 60s — Condition: New Copy

Jan & Dean at the height of their powers – hitting hard with a simple, no-nonsense sound that's completely sublime, and wonderfully compact – even though there's millions of LA musical forces going on in the background! The tunes are mostly driving little numbers that really push the vocals through the roof – those higher-than-high notes that the pair could hit together – making them maybe the third most powerful vocal force in 60s pop behind the Beach Boys and Four Seasons! Tunes are mostly car-themed – and include a few penned by Brian Wilson – a great lineup, without any filler at all. Titles include "Schlock Rod (parts 1 & 2)", "I Gotta Drive", "Surf Route 101", "Surfin Hearse", "Dead Man's Curve", and "Sting Ray".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
