Airto Fogo (Japanese paper sleeve edition – with bonus track)
CD (Item 60507) Burlington/Creole Stream (Japan), 1976 — Condition: New Copy
A rare French funky set from the 70s – recorded in Paris, but apparently put together by Brazilian groovemeister Waltel Branco! The style is heavy on percussion – very funky, with plenty of jazz undercurrents too – in the best rare Brazil mode of the time – but given a tight electric groove over the top – thanks to great keyboards, wah wah guitar, and even tight horns on a few tracks – which really send the album over the top, and almost give it a blacksploitation sort of feel! The whole thing's wonderful all the way through – like finding a lost tape of an action film shot in the Rio favelas of the 70s – dripping with the best electric touches of the time. Titles include "High Stakers", "1973 Carmen Avenue", "Just Over", "So Be It", "Shadowy", and "Right On Bird". CD features the bonus track "Black Soul". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
