Hustler's Strut – Rare & Unreleased Lower Ninth Ward New Orleans Funk 1965-1978
CD (Item 374127) Funky Delicacies, Mid 60s/1970s — Condition: New Copy
As the title says, the set's filled with rare funk tunes from New Orleans – all late 60s/early 70s material by Chuck Simmons, mostly issued as obscure 45s! The tunes on the set are different than the usual New Orleans funky stuff – as they've got traces of both more southern soul and Detroit bass work on them, stretching past the usual heavy clunk of the New Orleans sound to pick up influences from James Brown, P-Funk, and other northern soul acts. Includes the totally great break track "Funky Broom", plus "Hustler's Strut (parts 1 & 2)", "Everybody Needs Somebody", "Don't Create Complications", "Lay It On Me (parts 1 & 2)", "Doin The Sissy", and "Am I Grooving You". CD contains bonus tracks "Run Away", "You're Not The One For Me", "Kid Stuff", and "Why Should They Pay". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
