A beautiful early 70s psych folk set from the angelic vocal and songwriting duo of Pat Gefell and Jo D Andrews – their Refuge album for Ovation in 1973 – highlighted by their gorgeous vocals, but committed with lovely, lightly soaring arrangements! Save for a solid cover of the Elton John/Bernie Taupin penned "Sixty Years On", Gefell and Andrews wrote the songs here, and it's remarkably strong stuff! The duo vocals and harmonies are especially sweet. The Chicago-based production wisely leaves ample space in the arrangements for them to sort of loosely, emotively embellish with their voices – with string arrangements by co-producer George Andrews and an impressive roster of session players including bassist Phil Upchurch, drummer Don Simmons and percussionist Bobby Christian. Includes "Jenny", "Voice In The Wind", "To A Flame", "Tomorrow Is A Long Time", "Refuge", "Song For Craig", "A Light Is Shining", "Feel The Spirit" and more. Heavy vinyl and cover – and features a great insert with notes!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Amazing music from Laurance Vanay – actually a recording name for Jacqueline Thibault, a hell of a great keyboardist but an artist the label thought would be better off billed as a man! The sound here is halfway between the spacey experiments of Brian Eno and Cluster, and some of the more ... LP, Vinyl record album
Limonada
Sondor/Lion, 1970. New Copy (reissue)
An amazing little record from the free-thinking scene in Uruguay at the end of the 60s – a strange mix of styles, but a brilliant one too! Limonada only ever cut this one record, but it's a real masterpiece – a blend of 60s beat group instrumentation, candomble rhythms, and some of the ... LP, Vinyl record album

A fierce set of Icelandic hard rock from the early 70s – a heavy power trio, and one with a sound that's as dark as you'd guess from the image on the cover! These guys work at a level that's nicely free from any posturing or cliche – and instead really focus on some tight (and at times ... LP, Vinyl record album
Galaxies (180 gram pressing)
SFP/Lion, 1974. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)
Totally wonderful sounds from Laurance Vanay (aka Jacqueline Thibault) – an album that's heavy on keyboard sounds throughout – including these really moody Hammond organ lines that are handled in a style that's a lot closer to work on Fender Rhodes! The album's neither jazz nor prog ... LP, Vinyl record album

Loose, jammy, incredibly cool grooves from Snakegrinder – a mid 70s Delaware group that would've fit right in with the freewheeling west coast underground rock scene – if only they weren't on the other side of the country! Snakegrinder has an easygoing, sunshine vibe that's clearly of ... LP, Vinyl record album

An album of fragile beauty and buried darkness – in a space that's somewhere between the work of Nico and Brigitte Fontaine, but a fair bit sweeter overall! Lion, 1976. New Copy (reissue)
A startlingly great mid 70s loner folk record by Scott Key – with some of the finest, most artful fingerstyle guitar we've heard on a self-recorded album from the period – and a really strong record that would be right at home on the Takoma label! Recorded in Colorado by Key himself, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rare rock from Rotomagus – a heavy group from France – the complete discography of the group, and a completely fresh discovery to us! Columbia/Tizona, 1978. New Copy (reissue)
The last and the best of the three comeback albums that the Walker Brothers cut during their brief return to pop in the mid 70s – a set that already shows the newly-revived group coming apart at the seems, but in a really cool way that makes for one heck of an interesting record! Wild stuff – a very weird little EP from this unusual 70s group – a quartet who are almost more soulful funk than the kind of psych or folk you usually hear on small indie records like this!
