A fantastic record that's truly one of Tito Rodriguez's best from the 60s – a very jazzy affair, and one that breaks the pattern of most of his other albums of the time! As the title implies, Tito's working here live at Birdland nightclub – with a jazz-based lineup to match the setting, one that includes great guest work from Zoot Sims, Clark Terry, Al Cohn, and Bob Brookmeyer – all of whom really expand Tito's sound with some wonderful solo work! The tracks here are all longer than usual for Tito, and all much more Latin jazz too – and titles include "Summertime", "Mack The Knife", "Perdido", and "How High The Moon". (Original pressing!
