A dreamy little soundtrack by Piero Piccioni – not as mad as some of his more famous Italian work, but with plenty of nice touches! Piccioni's going for more of an atmospheric approach here with isolated instrumentation drifting over rhythmic string passages, in a way that's halfway between Ennio Morricone and Francis Lai. A few tracks have more whimsical musical touches – and the main theme is played by Roger Williams on piano with chorus backing. Titles include "The Chef", "The Tournament", "The Eggs Are Bewitched", "The Contest", "Prince Rodrigo", and "Rodrigo Leaves The Monastery". (Cover has a small cutout hole.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A great little soundtrack – even if it looks a bit snoozy from the outside! Don Costa's usually not our favorite arranger, but he does a great job with this one – laying out some hard blacksploitation grooves that have funky keyboards, sweet sitar, and lots of nice cop show grooves to ... An excellent soundtrack to this early 70s thriller that starred George C Scott! Jerry Goldsmith has come up with some strong action themes that are very much in a Lalo Schifrin mode – mixing guitar, electric harpsichord, and strings with a harder-edged groove so that there's a lot of space ... A pretty darn rare Lalo Schifrin soundtrack – to a lost crime thriller that starred David McCallum, Stella Stevens, and Telly Savalas – all of whom are pictured in a nice collage-type movie painting on the front cover! This one's got a bluesy jazz approach – set by Ray Charles' version of the title theme, and followed through by Lalo's great instrumental tracks – which mix strings, soul, and just the right jazzy touches to keep things moving along with a subtle groove. An obscure 60s spy soundtrack from Lalo Schifrin – done with a style that's a bit different than some of his other work at the time! Excellent soundtrack work by Jerry Goldsmith – possibly his greatest ever!
