CD (Item 602313) Universal (France), 2011 — Condition: New Copy

A whole host of previously-unissued recordings from Michel Legrand – longer-form suites designed for various cinematic projects – most of them quite long, and with a lot more variety than the original soundtracks! The setting is mostly orchestral – with Legrand directing a very large ensemble of musicians capable hitting the rich moods of the pieces – almost mini-movies themselves, in sound – with a level of scoring that goes way past some of the more familiar simple rhythms you might know from Michel Legrand's bigger hits! The set's a great late life illustration of this under-documented side of Legrand's talents – and features "The Don Quixote Suite", "Ice Station Zebra Suite", "Moscow Paris", "Sean & Audrey", and "The Legend Of Simon Conjurer".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
