Strange Games & Funky Things 5 Smoking 70s Soul & Rare Grooves – DJ Spinna & BBE SoundsystemVarious
CD (Item 530742) BBE (UK), 1970s — Condition: New Copy
One of the hippest installments so far in this legendary series – an excellent back of laidback funky cuts – super-sweet stuff, with a great lowdown sort of groove! The rhythms here are all nice and mellow, but the cuts are still plenty funky – right at the right sort of pace to be the kind of older funk numbers that inspire the hip hop generation – usually with a different sort of sound than the 70s funk that was hitting the mainstream back in the day! Spinna's done a great job with the track selection here – proving that even if you're digging in familiar territory, picking the right cuts is still a hell of an art – and the CD version features one mixed disc, and one unmixed CD – with cuts that include "Family Tree" by Family Tree, "Get It Up For Love" by Ned Doheny, "Sweet Stuff" by Sylvia, "Capricorn Rising" by Richard Evans, "Motherland" by Sylvia St James, "Cameo" by Eddie Senay, "For The Love Of Money" by Philly Armada Orchestra, "Brazilian Skies" by Bill Summers, "Asafo Beesuon/Obaa Yaa Aye Me Bone" by CK Mann & His Carousel 7, "Hunt Up Wind" by Hiroshi Fukimura, "Always There" by Wood Brass & Steel, "War Is Coming" by War, "Hands Of Time" by Perfect Circle, and "I Ain't Got The Love" by The Ambassadors. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
