Soft & Swing (180 gram pressing)
LP (Item 606513) Carosello (Italy), 1979 — Condition: New Copy
An incredible album of Fender Rhodes work from 70s Italy – every bit as soft and swinging as the title implies! The set's a great 70s update of the sound of Romanu Mussolini – a pianist who reached bigger fame in straighter settings during the postwar years – but who sounds really wonderful here in an unusual electric recording! Mussolini's touch on the keys is wonderful – as he tipples his way through a good assortment of tracks that range from the batucada-sounding "Brasiliana", to the moody "Duke" – which has an incredible piano/whistling line that sounds like it was lifted from a French film soundtrack! The album's worth it for that track alone, but the whole thing's great – and overflowing with wonderful tunes that include "Blues For Ugo", "Basie", "Mix In Glass", and "Omaggio A Oscar Peterson". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | ||||||
