Volume 6 in this ultimate disco funk collection – and the 80s grooves keep on coming strong! There's plenty of keyboards, bassy bottoms, and beats going on here – a very electric blend of instrumentation, but one that's still served up with a warmly soulful feel – thanks partly to some great vocals over the top of the tunes, and an overall good choice of tracks that helps the collection steer clear of commercial dreck or overplayed chart hits of the time! Most numbers groove at a pace that's somewhere in the neighborhood of the boogie – and titles include "Hot Summer Nights" by Love Club, "Secret Love (Frankie Rodriguez' ext Masterpiece re-edit)" by Evan Rogers, "Reach Your High Tonight" by Thunderflash, "Infatuation (Frankie Rodriguez' infatuated re-edit)" by Up Front, "Fast Money" by Roy Ayers, "Think Fast" by Pamela Joy, "Yes You Thrill Me" by Les Femmes, "You Can't Run From Love" by Maxine Singleton, "Gotta Make Up Your Mind" by Major Harris, and "She Talks To Me With Her Body (rmx)" by Bar-Kays.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Verve Remixed
Verve, 1960s/2002. Used
A very groovy idea! This sparkling set takes older vocal jazz tunes from the Verve catalog, and uses the songs as the basis for new tracks by some of the better producers in the global groove underground. The mix of styles and eras is quite compelling – as torchy vocals drift over the top ... CD

Philadelphia International, 1970s. Used
A sweet little set of classic 70s Philly – one of the best collections of work by the team of Gamble & Huff we've ever seen! There's nothing too obscure or offbeat here – and instead, the collection focuses mostly on the massive crossover tracks produced by the pair back in the day ... CD
