Philly Sound You Never Heard Vol 1 – The Songs, Productions & Arrangements Of Morris BaileyVarious
CD (Item 492752) Philly Archives, Late 60s/Early 70s — Condition: New Copy
Unheard Philly soul genius from the vaults of producer Morris Bailey – a treasure trove of rare singles in a wonderful variety of styles! Bailey's ear for a tune is very clear from the quality of this work – obscure sides that rival, if not beat, some of the best-remembered Philly soul sides of the late 60s – put together beautifully with a quality level that clearly marks Morris as a professional producer, yet one who can still keep all the spontaneous qualities of the music intact! This volume of the series focuses mostly on male singers, including some great groups whose harmonies soar on uptempo groovers, and slide soulfully along on some mellower, more laidback tracks – and the collection draws from a range of indie label singles, and also includes some previously unreleased selections as well. Titles include "Do You Do Lovin" by The Orientals, "Little Samson" by Johnny Newbag, "Run Little Girl" by Donnie Elbert, "Baby Man" by Essau Isaacs, "Look For The Beauty Inside" by Bobby Wells, "When It Rains Love It Pours" by Jesse Fountain, "Sweet Thing" by Johnny Newbag, "Face The Music" by The Delights, "Plain As The Nose On Your Face" by Thoughts, "I Can't Believe You Said You Love Me" by Lou Jackson, and "I Don't Mind Doin It" by Billy Harner. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
