A classic album from French pianist Maurice Vander – easily one of the liveliest talents on the keys in postwar Paris, and a player who'd soaked up plenty of influence from Bud Powell's days in France! Maurice is heard here in a tight trio that features Kenny Clarke on drums and Pierre Michelot on bass – a lineup that ensures that Vander's got plenty of dynamic range in the group – and Clarke's crackling touch on the kit is an especially great match for his leadership on the keys!
