CD (Item 603127) CBS/Big Break (UK), 1983 — Condition: New Copy

An overlooked gem from Linda Lewis – an early 80s album recorded after her time in the 70s limelight – and a set that's every bit as strong, if not stronger than, most other soul records of the time! Lewis is working here with studio help from two different forces – a warm New York sound from the mighty Bert DeCouteaux, and some snappier London grooves supplied by The Quick – who help update Lewis' sound slightly, yet still keep things right on the money! Linda's vocals are wonderful – and if anything, they've gotten even better with maturity – shedding off some of that little girl feel of previous years, and really making us believe some of the more bittersweet lyrics in the set. Titles include "Destination Love", "I Am What I Am", "Don't Let It Go", "This Boy", "Why Can't I Be The Other Woman", "Sweet Heartache", and "You Don't Know What You're Missing". CD features 5 bonus tracks – "Come On Back", "I Can Take It", "Class/Style (12" groove mix)", "You Turned My Bitter Into Sweet (12" megamix)", and "Class/Style (single)".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
