Rock N Roll
CD (Item 474604) Roulette/Collectors Choice, 1957 — Condition: New Copy
One of the few solo albums from Frankie Lymon – a record that has even more of a focus on his wonderful voice than his previous efforts with The Teenagers! The Frankie heard here is a bit more grown up – singing with a slightly deeper, harder tone – one that definitely lives up to the Rock N Roll promised in the title, but which still has plenty of echoes of R&B – and a good dose of group soul too, given that most numbers have a backing combo behind Lymon's lead. Titles are mostly covers of other hits, but come off pretty fresh overall – and tracks include "Silhouettes", "Waiting In School", "Wake Up Little Susie", "Next Time You See Me", "Buzz Buzz Buzz", "Searchin", "Short Fat Fannie", and "Diana". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
