A mellow soul stunner from the mid 80s – the classic debut of Surface, a trio who bring a lot of warm jazzy elements into their unique brand of quiet storm grooves! There's a careful sense of class to the record right from the start – no easygoing commercial ballads, and instead a more mature male soul approach that really shows the deeper roots of the group's three members – one of whom is David Townsend, who was part of the excellent Townsend family album on Casablanca in the late 70s! Most tunes have a laidback groove that's perfect for the group's vocal approach – which is sometimes harmony, sometimes more focused on a lead – always stepping along at a good mellow pace. Titles include "Happy", "Let's Try Again", "We're All Searchin", "Who Loves You", "You're Fine", "Girls Were Made To Love", "Gotta Make Love Tonight", and "Feels So Good".
