Katabatic Wind

CD (Item 572926) Bolage (Norway), 2011 — Condition: New Copy

A group with a cool blend of acoustic and electronic instrumentation – coming across in a mix of improvised jazz and ethereal soundscapes – not unlike some of the hip Norwegian work on the Jazzland label a decade ago! The connection is no surprise, given that these guys come from the same scene – and the work with kind of a more youthful approach to the same aesthetic – blending trumpet, trombone, tuba, piano, and drums with a cool "tabla machine", keyboards, and other electronics. The end results are pretty striking, and very moody – and titles include "A Scar", "The Thar Desert", "The Wall", "Used To Be Doublespeak", "The Katabatic Wind", "Dropmaker", and "It's All Gone".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
