Wild stuff – and a great collection of new versions of classic tracks by the legendary Serge Gainsbourg! The bulk of the set was recorded in Japan in the mid 90s – in a mode that's quite appreciative of the sound of the originals, but with some freshly modern twists – almost in the style used by the Trattoria label at the same time. The changes are all quite nice – taking tunes that we already love, and giving them a new approach – and one that shows that the magic of Gainsbourg can easily transcend boundaries of culture and language!
