Jazz Couriers In Concert (180 gram pressing)
LP (Item 556133) Tempo/Specialty (UK), 1958 — Condition: New Copy
Seminal work from one of the hippest British groups of the 50s – the legendary Jazz Couriers, fronted by the twin-tenor sax team of Ronnie Scott and Tubby Hayes! Both players are great here – blowing with a tone, confidence, and sense of creativity that matches most of their American contemporaries on the scene – a perfect match in sound and spirit, as both musicians work hard to move British jazz into a new dimension for the 60s! Hayes plays a bit of vibes, in addition to tenor sax – and the rest of the group includes Terry Shannon on piano, Phil Bates on bass, and Bill Eyden on drums – on tracks that include "Time Was", "Speak Low", "The Serpent", "Some Of My Best Frineds Are Blues", and "What Is This Thing Called Love". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
