A classic bit of indie blues from the Chicago scene – featuring some great players from the second generation after Chess Records stopped picking up the younger local talents! Magic Sam leads the group on vocals and guitar, and he's working here with Mighty Joe Young on guitar, Odie Payne on drums, and Mack Thompson on bass – all to craft a set of rough and ready blues tunes that would have played well on both sides of the tracks at the time. Titles include "That's All I Need", "All Of Your Love", "I Don't Want No Woman", "Mama Mama Talk To Your Daughter", and "Lookin Good", a nice instrumental!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Vee Jay, Early 60s. New Copy (reissue)
John Lee Hooker takes a step or two into the bluesy soul sound of the early 60s on this sweet set on Vee Jay – while style flaunting his true blues pedigree really, really well! The grit of his voice is as heavily emotive and unshakable as ever – backed by a crack combo on drums, ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great collection of the earliest work of Blind Willie McTell – all recordings made in Atlanta between 1927 and 1929 – served up in a wonderfully spare style that really showcases Willie's work on vocals and guitar! The latter "sings" as much as the former here – often ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rootsy gospel from The Como Mamas – a tremendous trio of female singers, working here in an all-acapella mode that's completely sublime!
