La Novela
LP (Item 66784) Kilmarnock, 1971 — Condition: New Copy
A pretty darn sweet album from Galt MacDermot – a selection of tracks performed for the Ballet Hispanico of New York – a blend of funky jazz, Latin themes, and the kind of offbeat melodies that Galt was putting into his work at the time. The group's a great assemblage of able players – Jimmy Owens, Charles Sullivan, Seldon Powell, Ray Baretto, and Bernard Purdie – and unlike other Kilmarnock albums of this time, which could sometimes get a little gimmicky, this one stays pretty true to purpose, with some really fantastic grooves! Titles include "La Lucha", "El Hombre", "Annalisa", "Hay Una Isla", and "Rumbatimbale". (Original pressing.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
