LP, Vinyl record album

4.90 5

Although the title and the cover (with strange emotional black female faces on the front) seem to cast this more as a blues record – the album's actually more a set of soulful bop tracks from the Savoy catalog, many of which are excerpted from longer tracks on other LPs. Players include Yusef Lateef, Frank Wess, AK Salim, Ernie Wilkins, Milt Jackson, Charlie Parker, and others – and titles include "G'Bouk", "Duo Flautist", "Lo Fi", "Doin The Thing", "Strollin", and "Blue Bird". (Red label pressing, with deep groove. Cover has some seam splitting, with a couple of stains and an ink stamp on the back. Both labels have an ink stampl)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

House Of David
Atlantic, 1967. Very Good+
One of David Newman's grooviest albums of the 60s – a stripped-down set that features a quartet with Hammond and guitar – all in a vibe that's a bit more relaxed than some of Newman's other sessions for Atlantic! There's a gritty edge to the record – with organ by the obscure ... LP, Vinyl record album
