Heathen Earth – The Live Sound Of Throbbing Gristle (expanded 2CD version)
CD (Item 590396) Industrial (UK), 1980 — Condition: New Copy
A "live in studio" set from Throbbing Gristle – one that seeks to be a refinement of their famous style of concert performance – set up during better recording conditions, which really shows in the music produced! There's a very dark edge to the whole thing here – the noise and fuzz of the early years, mixed with some of the leaner electronics of the previous record – all filtered together wonderfully in some post-production modes, which really brings out the instrumentation beautifully! It's clear that at this point, TG are no sonic accident – that they've realized a power that few others could touch – and which would have been almost earth-moving, had they managed to hold the group together well into the 80s. Yet despite the imminent breakup, Heathen Earth stands as one of the most striking albums ever from the quartet – true genius forged out of analogue electronics, guitars, cornet, processed vocals, and other weird sounds! Includes a bonus CD with key material from 1980 – the classic 7" single with "Subhuman" and "Adrenalin" – plus live tracks from Manchester, Sheffield, and Berlin – all showing the ever-changing TG sound. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
