Definitely a full blast here – an expansion of the reed team of Peter Brotzmann and Ken Vandermark with added trumpet from Thomas Herberer, bass from Marino Pliakas, drums from Michael Wertmuller, and percussion from Dirk Rothbrust – all of which makes for a record that's even more powerful than other sessions issued under the Full Blast name! The drums are quite heavy – really driving the players onward strongly – and although the record only features one very long track, there's also a real sense of direction going on too – still lots of very free-blown solos from the hornmen, but with a focus that holds in line with the percussion – and really makes things cook! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
