A 70s movie made in Chicago's southside neighborhood of Stony Island – one that's about the makings of a fictional Chicago funky soul supergroup – co-starring sax legend Gene Barnes and Richie Davis! The film's Stony Island Band features some incredible real life musicians – inspired by Chess legend Barge – and its 70s funky soul sound is represented nicely! This is an early film by Chicago native Andrew Davis, who would go on to film seriously huge blockbusters here in his hometown – most famously The Fugitive – but this low key labor-of-love is what put him on the map as a director! Fascinatingly, the cast also includes Dennis Franz, Rae Dawn Chong and future-Bangle Susanna Hoffs.
