Live In Atlanta Vol 1 (CD & DVD)
CD (Item 471814) Boobeescoot, 2007 — Condition: New Copy
Tremendous live work from the mighty Frank McComb – one of our favorite contemporary soul stars, presented here in both audio and visual formats! The CD is especially great – a wonderful document of Frank's warmth and soul in a concert setting – the kind of record that recalls the genius of live albums by Donnie Hathaway and Curtis Mayfield from the 70s – and which has just the sort of classic feel those references might imply! But Frank's also got something extra going on here – a bit of a jazzier edge than before, almost a Stevie Wonder sensibility in the way his keyboards and vocals weave magically together – stretching out with a quality that goes beyond easy description, and certainly way beyond any of the simple cliches that are often trotted out by other contemporary singers trying for this sort of sound. The recording quality is wonderful too – quite clear, and very fresh – with a different feel than McComb's studio work. DVD is a visual document of the same performance – and titles on both include "Return To Lake Erie", "Wasting Your Time", "Love Natural", "Do You Remember Love", "Left Alone", and "Future Love". (This is Frank McComb's own version – a self produced CDR in a slimline case, with color copy cover.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
