Bobby Charles (limited edition 3CD box set with 40 page booklet)
CD (Item 593324) Bearsville/Rhino Handmade, 1972 — Condition: New Copy
The damn near perfect early 70s self-titled set from songwriter and badly underappreciated singer/performer Bobby Charles – a cat with who worked for Chess as far back as the 50s, but delivered a swampy rock & soul should-be classic in '72 – fleshed out tremendously in this 3CD set on Rhino Handmade! There's a mellow, laconic and laidback delivery on the both the vocal and production tip that's just genius here – fusing laidback southern rock, soul and roots in a wholy unique way. A great one! Includes "Street People", "Long Face", "I Must Be In A Good Place Now", "Let Yourself Go", "Grow Too Old", "I'm That Way", "Tennessee Blues" and the other great tracks from the original album – plus a slew of non-album B-sides, alternate versions, strong stuff from a completely abandoned session and 30 minute interview on this excellent 3CD set from Rhino Handmade! Includes "He's Got The Whiskey (Long Version)", "Why Are People Like That", "Cowboys And Indians", "Little Town Tramp", "Keep Cookin' Mama", "Homemade Songs (Long Version)", "Better Days", "Done A Lot Of Wrong Things" and much more. (Numbered limited 3CD set in a beautiful package with a thick booklet of notes.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
