Blue Note two-fer that was the original issue of the Jubilee Shout album, plus one other album from the early 60's which came out under it's own name in the 80's. Excellent stuff, and some of the best playing Turrentine ever did. He's joined by brother Tommy on both sets, and this is some of the hardest swingin', deepest playing, most soulfully happenin' stuff that Blue Note ever recorded. If you've ever doubted the worth of Stan the Man, check out this double album set and be convinced! (Cover has a cutout hole and light wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Blue Note, Late 50s. Near Mint-
Bud plays live at Birdland with Sam Jones and Philly Joe Jones. The album's got almost a soul jazz feel in parts, perhaps due to the backing by Jones and Jones. Powell hits lots of soulful changes while running around in firey solos, and Jones' bass slams behind him in round warm lines. Tracks ... LP, Vinyl record album

Columbia, 1969. Very Good 2 LP Gatefold
One of the few cases in jazz where an oft-played classic still resonates with power! The record itself is a key cap to Miles Davis' already-groundbreaking years of the 60s – a bold step forward, not just for his nascent electric sound, but also for jazz in general – and the benchmark ...
